According to the researches published in “Life Science”, artemisinin, a “Sweet wormwood” derivative, used in Chinese medicine – can kill 98% of lung cancer cells in less than 16 hours. If the herb is used by itself, it reduces lung cancer cells up to 28%, but in combination with iron, Sweet Wormwood successfully and fully “erases” cancer. What’s more, in the experiment this herb had no impact on healthy lung cells.
Artemisinin was used in the past as a powerful antimalarial remedy, but no wit is proven that it is also effective against cancer. When iron was introduced to subjects in the study, which is often attached to lung tissue and especially to cancer infected cells, artemisinine selectively attacked “bad” cells, and left “good” cells untouched.
“All in all, our results show that artemisinine’s interference with ‘E2F1’ transcription factor intervenes in destruction of lung cancer cell cycle and it presents a critical transcription way according to which artemisinin controls reproductive cancer cell growth.”- was stated in the conclusion of the researches in the cancer laboratory, University of California.
Iron deposits in cancerogenous cells with special receptors which help in cell division (called “transferrin” receptors). Normal cells probably also have these receptors, but cancer cells have them in greater quantities, and can be targeted by the combination of iron and artemisinin accordingly.
So far, there have been numerous experiments conducted which prove that artemisinin can effectively destroy the disease in combination with iron. This extract has been used against malaria in China for thousands of years. Malaria parasite cannot survive in the presence of artemisinine, because it is rich in iron. Bio-engineers Henry Lai and Narendra Singh from the University of Washington were the first scientists to discover this.
You can see their research here, which has proven that cancer cells go through apoptosis, or self-destruction.
Until now, it was difficult to get the extract at more affordable prices, but the price may get lower with people showing more and more interest in this herb.
French medicine producer, “Sanofi” expect production of 50 to 60 tons artemisinin every year, hoping that it will satisfy the needs of the global market.
