Food poisoning often hits quickly and unexpectedly, leaving the sufferer in dismay and regret. Mix 50 ml Apple cider vinegar with 50 ml water or apple juice.
Activated charcoal attracts poisons and binds with them rendering them inactive. Activated charcoal powder can be taken as a powder, mixed with water, or in capsule or tablet form. A typical dose is 1-4 capsules/tablets (equal to about ¼ -1 teaspoon charcoal powder.) This dose can be repeated after 30 minutes and then hourly if symptoms persist. Activated charcoal should be taken with plenty of water to avoid constipation.
A teaspoon of colloidal silver is a tasteless and simple remedy that will resolve food poisoning from a variety of different bacteria. Colloidal silver can be taken hourly until the symptoms resolve. It can be taken in water or juice or by itself.
Turmeric works against many types of bacteria and is also a wonderful remedy for diarrhea. You can take turmeric in capsules or mix some into water or milk. A common dosage is 4 capsules or 1 teaspoon of turmeric. Turmeric should always be taken with plenty of water; it can be constipating for some.
Garlic is a powerful antibacterial herb. For food poisoning, garlic can be taken in gel caps or in the raw form. Try 4-6 capsules of garlic or one clove of garlic, minced. To get it down you can mix it with some honey. The dose can be repeated after an hour.
HELPING YOUR BODY RECOVER FROM FOOD POISONING
Food poisoning is stressful to the body. If you have lost a lot of fluids from vomiting and diarrhea, you will need to replace the lost fluids and electrolytes. Water, herbal teas, juices and soups are good sources of fluids. Sports drinks usually contain electrolytes. Bananas and blackstrap molasses also contain significant potassium and magnesium. For most people pinch of extra salt (another electrolyte) can be added to food, soups or water to restore sodium to the body.
Taking probiotics in the form of kefir, yogurt or a supplement will help your digestive system to regain balance after a bought of food poisoning.
Re-introduce foods slowly and gently back into your diet so that healing can take place. Bananas, rice, yogurt, applesauce, toast, and oatmeal are examples of gentle foods to get your started. Avoid spicy foods and greasy foods.
PREVENTING FOOD POISONING
If you have had a recent bout of food poisoning, you will be especially careful to prevent it from happening again. Certainly making sure food is properly prepared at home is important. But even with diligence at home you never know when it will strike if you are eating out or traveling.
Keep apple cider vinegar capsules, garlic capsules or activated charcoal tablets in your purse, back pack or car. Take one before and after a meal that you are not sure about. You will also be ready for the unexpected even if you don’t remember to take a preventative dose.
